The Village Hall (originally called the Literary
Institute) was built in the 1860s, and has been
formally registered as a charity since 1940. It is
managed by a committee of Trustees representing
village residents and organisations which use the
hall regularly.
The upper floor of the Hall (view
floor plan) comprises a large single room with
a raised stage, which has a licensed seating
capacity of 70 for performances. The ground floor (view
floor plan) has two smaller meeting rooms,
which can be combined to form a single room, and a
well-equipped modern kitchen which was re-furbished
in 2006. There are two cloakrooms, one of which now
has disabled access. A stair-lift gives access to
the mezzanine and upper floors. All doors and
windows were fully double-glazed in 2010,
The Hall has a premises licence for the sale and
consumption of alcohol.
